After Your MassageĀ
You've just given your body an hour of care and attention. Here's how to look after it for the next day or two, so the work keeps going after you leave.
What to expect
You might feel loose and a bit floaty for the rest of the day. That's normal, and it's worth protecting. Try not to schedule anything demanding straight after.
If we worked deeply into a tight area, you may feel tender there tomorrow, a bit like you've been to the gym. That usually settles within a day or two.
Some people feel sleepy that evening and sleep better than they have in weeks. Others feel quite energised. Both are fine.
What helps
Drink a decent amount of water today. Your body's just been moved around and water simply helps you detox and feel better.
Keep moving gently. A short walk, some relaxing, however sitting still for six hours undoes some of what we just did.
A warm shower or bath in the evening if you're feeling tender. Heat suits most people, though if an area feels hot or inflamed, something cool is kinder.
Go easy on heavy training or lifting for a day. Your muscles have already had a workout.
Hot or cold packs to specific areas if you were informed to do so.
When to book again
If we're working on something specific, a tight shoulder or a niggle that's been hanging around, book again in one to two weeks. Progress is better when sessions are close together at the start.
If you're keeping on top of general tension, every four weeks suits most people as a maintenance program. You'll get a feel for your own rhythm. Most people notice they start tightening up around the same point each time, and that's your answer.
Come back sooner if something flares. Waiting rarely makes it easier to shift.
